Peter Fleming was born in London. He studied at Hammersmith College of Art and Building, where he met Irmgard Parth. For most of his life he taught on average two days a week, mostly at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Teaching gave him the time and independence that he values so highly.
He has shown regularly in many mixed exhibitions such as The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The New English Art Club Annual, The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, (where he was a prize winner). He has also won the Cecil Jospe Prize and the David Messum Award. He was elected to membership of The New English Art Club which he relinquished after moving to Austria. He has exhibited at The Argile Gallery, The Lyric Gallery, and Messums in London, and in Austria in the Turm Galerie (Imst), Galerie Hosp (Nassereith), and The Galerie Nothburga (Innsbruck).
